‘Takeaways’ is the debut zine from London-based writer & director Rae Chen Elliman.

Describing ‘Takeaways’ as a zine about food is like describing The Godfather as a film about the mafia; yes, but also, not quite. The zine is centred around the unique stories of food in the United Kingdom, seen through a distinctive filter of immigration, ethnicity and place.

Through photography, essays, illustrations and recipes, all framed by Rae’s unique voice, ‘Takeaways’ looks at the opportunity that eating gives us. The zine is, as Rae puts it, a collection of “takeaways from a few decades of eating and being, as well as some from my friends and family.”
